Best Music of 2008 (Band – Title)
1.      Horse Feathers – House with No Name (Sweet, harmonic Folk melodies, hands down, my favorite CD of the year)
2.     Cheb I. Sabbah – Devotion (Traditional Central Asian music with a thick layer of bass & drums on the bottom)
3.     Hoots and Hellmouth – Hoots and Hellmouth (Country Rock at its best)
4.    The Moondoggies – Don’t Be A Stranger (We don't need The Band to reunite as long as these guys are playing)
5.     Bon Iver – For Emma, Forever Ago (Somber, soulful, solo Folk)
The Weepies – Hideaway (Bright, thoughtful, pop songwriting deftly delivered by husband & wife duo)
 
 
Best Movies of 2008
1.      American Teen. Documentary. Dir: Nanette Burstein. Follow several Indiana high school seniors through their final year.
2.      Ghost Town. Comedy. Dir: David Koepp. Starring Ricky Gervais, Greg Kinnear and Tia Leone. UK dentist in NYC ends up with a special talent after a simple medical procedure and must polish his people skills to find happiness.
3.      Mongol. Drama, Dir: Sergei Bodrov. Starring Tadanobu Asano, Honglei Sun and Khulan Chuluun. The life of Genghis Khan from birth until he becomes the great khan.
4.      Redbelt. Drama. Dir: David Mamet. Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tim Allen. LA martial arts instructor’s life takes a turn after breaking up a bar fight.
5.      Transsiberian. Drama. Dir: Brad Anderson. Starring Woody Harrelson, Emily Mortimer and Ben Kingsley. A Trans-Siberian train journey from China to Moscow goes horribly wrong for a Midwest couple.
