Alex and Me: How a Scientist and a Parrot Discovered a Hidden World of Animal Intelligence - and Formed a Deep Bond in the Process, by Irene M. Pepperberg.

Alex & Me  is the amazing story of a thirty year friendship between a parrot and his “tutor”, who was attempting to do research on human-animal communication.  Alex the parrot managed to confound scientists with his intelligence and ability to interact.  This book is at once heart-warming, as well as an intriguing look at the research process.  Warning:  It very like will make you cry…
